Local Lighthouse Cancellation Policy Review from Jacksonville, Florida

I have been trying to cancel with local lighthouse one week after signing up because i had that much time to be able to cancel. When i called and told them i wasn't able to afford the 90 a month they told me too bad, so sad deal and i had to wait six months to cancel my account. I'm still dealing with them in the hopes that they can cancel and refund my money. I just get the oh well sorry deal. I will not recommend this company to no one because they lied to me and mislead me as well.

Scammed my 79 year old father and is still harassing him

I work with my dad in a small business. He received a high pressure sales call from Local Lighthouse promising many things including a high tech website geared toward our customers for $99 (this website is a joke). That is what my dad thought it cost for a year. The guy on the phone agreed, got my dad's credit card number, and talked him through the docusign which my dad signed in an 'oral' agreement with the guy on the phone and "not at all" to what was on the docufile in writing that literally didn't show up on my dad's computer because he has the images enlarged so he can see them (due to impaired eyesight); he never saw the other part of the document. His business doesn't make enough money to support anything more than $99 a year for a website service and my dad knows that and wouldn't have agreed anything else. We fought his through his credit card company, wrote a letter to Local Lighthouse as THEY REQUESTED, asked to cancel our agreement due to a LIE, and we are now being harassed by their collection agency for $427.55. This place will lie to you and your loved ones. They say you can cancel anytime if you are not happy- that is a LIE. Small businesses like my dad's could take a serious hit trying to deal with these corrupt practices. Do NOT believe anything they say and warn others to stay away from them. They took advantage of a senior citizen and they will take advantage of you.

Sucked into the Local Lighthouse web. Can't get out!

When I agreed to Local Lighthouse's services, the rep told me I could cancel after six months. After six months, I phoned to cancel. The lady on the phone said she would give me an additional two months free and then cancel. That was five months ago. When I saw that Local Lighthouse was still taking money from my account, I phoned. They said it was just a cancellation fee and someone would phone me back. No one did. Now I see they are continuing to take money from my account. I am so angry at Local Lighthouse! How can I guarantee that no one else will get sucked into their money-hungry web? How can I stop them from taking money from my account? I did not receive a single client from their six months of "service"!

I haven't either. I want to cancel and they are giving me the same run around.

Haven't done a thing. Then you wait on the phone so long that I believe their point is to try to make you hang up.

cancel them by canceling the card they have on file. Then file suit against the company through the better business bureau and Attorney General. Call your card that you are using and put any charges they are or have used as unauthorized and they will put the money back on your account until the dispute is completed.

Update: Phoned them today. Apparently, they did not cancel services when I phoned them five months ago, and they did not cancel services when I phoned two months ago.

So I asked a supervisor what I have to do in order to cancel their services for good. She said I did not need a confirmation number because she will officially cancel my account today and remove their fingers from my bank account.

I hope she is speaking truly. We shall see...

Ah, I see now that by the Local Lighthouse Terms & Conditions, I did not follow the rules. I must phone for a cancellation confirmation number and then put in writing that I wish to cancel.

Until I do that, no fees are refundable, and if I do not update my credit card, I can be penalized and the bill sent to collections.

Cheerful. You can bet that I will be phoning them every day until I get my cancellation confirmation number...and then I hope I never hear from them again!

In this comment above you see a response from a young girl by the name of "Vanessa" who is in charge or "reputation management" at Lcoal Lighthouse. She will basically take every negative remark made about the company, flip it around to be the exact opposite, and claim the accusations being made are false. When 99 people to 1 say that the service is a scam, you can very well guess this isn't a case of crying wolf. I left the company after being there for almost a year on the sales floor boiling room, due to the fact that not ONE of my clients was RANKING or HAPPY. Thanks, Sincerely, Local Lighthouse Destroyer.

Yep we to were lied to/ taken advantage of and now out 400 or so dollars . Never signed agreement nothing tried to cancel several times kept getting the run around would be told it was cancelled and it wasn't Afrr all the other things we were mislead about . Then I call to cancel again for 5th time they tell me need to be transferred come back and say oh they are busy someone will call you in hour and a half and I say ok . Previously I had told them not to call during the hours of 10-4 they didn't call back in that hour and a half but call back at 12 the next day. So I email them explaining my issue and stating I want my money back and they send me a email saying your service will now be cancelled - no money or refund. And what's funny is 3 months prior I tried cancelling through email and was told they can't do that they have to call and speak with me and even after that nothing . Yet once told them I was taking further action they then decide to cancel me thru email no problem

The webpage they designed for me is poor. It looks like a middle school student put it together. I offered to give them my design. They said they couldn't use it. I have received zero phone calls since switching over. I complained back in May and they lowered the rate. I called again today and they want to do the same thing, lower my rate. Why waste more money. I monitor my DJ calls and all my calls have been referrals or previous customers. Now that I'm trying to cancel, they have me on hold forever. Recommendation: FIND SOMEONE ELSE. : (

Ineffective and Lotsa Lies

Believe the negative hype. If you believe their 5th iteration of what they promise to deliver, you might be happy to give them 1 star. The lesson I learned from this is to never take an unsolicited sales call. Big promises, and a complete failure to deliver. After the "90 Day Guarantee" period, they tried to convince me they had achieved what I was promised. All a bunch of *** that changes with each person I spoke to. They used every tactic to keep me on board with them to keep getting fleeced. The site they created was ugly, and brought me 1 Lead, in 3 Months.What a joke. After being almost $500 in with them ($199+$99+$99+$99), I was fed up and called my credit card to dispute ALL the charges. I have been credited by Cap1, including for interest charged. It was such a headache, and now I'm done with them. Steer clear of these guys, and if you didn't read reviews (like me) and are getting ripped off by them, keep good records, and call your credit card company. Next!

You do realize that it's entirely possible to lose a dispute, right? Capital One is the one who credited you, not the company.

It's only a temporary credit while CapOne investigates the claim. If this place provides them with enough proof to show that the charges are legitimate then all of that money will be taken right back from your account.

CapOne doesn't automatically side with you just because you weren't satisfied. Don't be surprised when you "get billed" again after you lose your dispute.

What is wrong here! Tried to cancel due to posting false advertising and a commitment I never understood Requested any future contact be via email or letter. Denied!! Quoted $400.00 to cancel "agreement ." They tried to tell me to just sign a hard copy contract (for twice the money spoken about) and just "trust them". I am outraged! We work hard for every penny! Who do these people think they are!!!???

This is honestly one of the worst seo companies I have came across. I used to work there and what I saw made me feel sick. I seen how the operations are ran and a large percentage of the businesses not seeing any ROI. A lot of their cancellations are from small business that are struggling to survive. They are expecting their $99 a month investment with this company to bring them more money. They cancel because they cannot afford it. The reps guarantee a large increase in new business which is not the case. The "complimentary" website is a very generic and low budget. A 16 year old can develop it. They claim its a special but this is their everyday package. Do not allow the sales rep to sale you on how its a "Special Today Only." Take your time and research. High Pressure Sales: The sales reps there are working for commission only. They do not get paid hourly. They will try to close business owners as quick as possible. This tactic is used so people will not have the chance to do their research and see all the negative reviews. It also prevents your average business owner the time to really review the terms and conditions. They claim they can have you ranking on the first pages of Google within 90 days or they will work for free. False! Read the terms and conditions on their website. It says if you are not ranking on Google, Yahoo or Bing. Over 80% of the business that are their clients are not ranking on Google. If you are not ranking on Google but if you are ranking on Bing, they will not work for free. The only way you are guaranteed to rank is if you are in a niche market with a low population. For example you will not rank if you are in a major city such as New York, LA, Miami or Chicago for example. If you have a lot of competitors in your area you will also not rank. You probably will after 12-18 months. They trained their sales reps to tell people they are Google partners when they are far from it. They use a automated system to call cellphones and residential homes which is illegal. The automated system says press 1 to speak to a Google+ specialist. This tactic is used to confuse people intentionally. People automatically assume they are going to speak to a Google rep. They had a "F" ranking on the BBB until June 2015. They just paid the BBB mid June for the "A" rating that they have now. The office is a broiling room. All upper management talks about is sales sales sales. Break records break records. They do not genuinely care about their employees. Its all politics in that office. I hope this helps you make an educated decision.

Just received a call from them and was all excited and ready to sign up. Luckily I slowed my roll and did some research and came across these review.

Local Lighthouse is not Google. Nor do we, as a group, speak for Google, work for Google, or claim to be representatives of Google in any kind of official capacity whatsoever.

I received a phone call from local light house saying that they could place my website on the front page of Google in 3 months guaranteed .I had to put $200 down and pay $99 per month for 6 months .Going on 5 months now and not 1 sale to my site. Called them and spent 30 minutes getting the run around till they finely said they would send me a form to copy sign and send it back to them. Its been 2 days and NO emails from them and do not expect to hear from them !!STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE !!!

Had the same experience with this company. The rep became agitated when I asked if he was a Google employee, since he stated "I am calling with Google to verify your Google business listing." He did not answer my question of whether he is a Google employee, and went on to speak over me about SEO marketing. I told him to remove me from his call list and never to call me again. He stated that I have to remove my business from Google if I wanted to have my number removed. I am preparing lawsuit, as my phone number is listed on dnc registry, the number they called is a cell phone, and for repeatedly calling me after my asking them to stop. Don't do business with liars and scam artists - there are many small businesses out there that are honest, do just as good a job or better, and would love to have your business.
