Avoid at all costs

After getting sucked into a 6 month commitment for something like $70 a mo and realizing after a few months that it was a waste of money, i called and they talked me down to $60/mo. i complained again, they offered a "deluxe audit" and $125 PPC campaign with google. after a few weeks, i asked to see the results of the audit and the PPC campaign. they then had the audacity to tell me they *just* discontinued the campaign and as a result there are no records. it is VERY difficult to cancel. they put me on hold SEVEN times. these guys are criminals.

Like the other, I was contacted about my business and lied to

The guy said it was a 100% guarantee that my biz listing would be on the front page of Google under all 10 keywords for $99 per month. Better deal than eGumball but still the same scam. Not interested. NO ONE can speak for Google. Just a sham like the others. Once I told him that I was not interested he became very rude and then hung up on me. The funny part is this....I don't even have a business. This business cannot speak for Google...only Google can speak for themselves and they do not call any customers or business.

Arrogant SOBs need to obey the law and respect customers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I get an automated call every month from them and usually hang up....I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry, but they call anyway. Today I get a call and decide to get more information. The phone number says Florida, the man on the line said Orange County. When I found their website and determined the company at least exists, I responded that I would report them to the Do Not Call registry. The man became instantly rude, and laughed at me and said in a childish voice, "Oh no. You're not going to report us are you? (laughter heard)" At that point I am confident in writing this review. They are scam artists that simply get people on the hook with an automated calling system that flagrantly disobeys the law because they feel they are above it. Any company like that does not deserve anyone's business ever!!!!

They robo-called me 9 times even after I told them not to call again. I am meeting them in court tomorrow.

The owner offered a settlement but since I have them cold I won't settle. You will be glad to hear that Google sued them for misrepresenting themselves.

The owner claims to have laid off 3/4 of his staff. They are in a downward spiral.

Make Sure To Read The Terms and Conditions

Actually there isn't really any Terms and Conditions on the contract they send you...nor does anyone or anything prompt you to read the extensive list of Terms on their website (www.locallighthouse.com/terms) prior to signing. I made the mistake of not doing my due diligence of reading the Terms and Conditions prior to signing and am still kicking myself for trusting their sales agent, Stephanie Allen. Long story short; Don't make the same mistake I did. What you get with Local Lighthouse is an unprofessional business dedicated to giving you horrible customer service and representation of your business with a website that you pray DOES NOT end up on the front page of Google. Terminating the contract is another nightmare in itself, due to section 13 of the Terms and Conditions; which states that termination will result in a $450 termination fee...even if you are trying to cancel within the first 3 weeks like I did. So after I finally read ALL of the Terms and Conditions...which is a real piece of work...basically stripping you of all rights, giving Local Lighthouse full authority to rape you and your business. I did find a loophole in the language. For those of you who are in the same boat as I am: Sections 2 and 3 clearly state that you are able to cancel work in writing within 15 days of the billing date or "Agreement Anniversary". Note that these two sections will be your defense against Section 13, which seeks to hold you hostage by saying that the "USER may terminate their signed agreement at any time with a one-time termination fee of $450 or by paying the monthly fees for the remainder of their agreement's term (whichever is less)." Now, since the Agreement you signed simply says "6 months at the rate of $99/month", one could argue that it is stating that by signing, you are agreeing to a set price of $99, paid on a month to month basis. Also since the "agreement's term" could be understood as a one month billing period, as long as you are within the 15 day window, you are exempt from paying anything more than what you already have. Now I could be wrong on all of this, but it is probably the best shot you have. I have already submitted a formal letter of cancellation to Local Lighthouse and plan on exploring legal action should I continue to be billed by them in the future. For anyone experiencing a similar problem, I suggest you do the same.

So glad I came to Pissed Consumer before giving these guys my money!

When I heard what they had to say I thought it would be awesome. I spoke to my Dad about it and he told me it sounded a little to good to be true and to do some research first. After GOOGLING the phone number the guy left me with strict instructions to call back in 20 minutes or loose my 1st page ranking, I found out it was a Local Lighthouse rip off with 4 pages worth of complaints. THANK YOU to everyone who reported these guys. You saved my life! If it hadn't been for these reviews I would have believed every word that fast talking scam artist told me and I would have lost my shirt trying to grow my business!

Non-stop calls from Local Lighthouse

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I get a phone call each week, or more, from these guys. I've never done business with them, I've never contacted them and they call and call and call. Most of the time it's impossible to get them to tell me the name of the company they work for. Today they finally said Local Lighthouse. What a horrible company. I'd never do business with them, ever. Every time they call, I ask to be removed. They keep calling, though. When I ask how they got my personal information, somehow their phone always gets disconnected. Imagine that. These are horrible human beings.

This company's marketing tactics: 1)lie and 2)break the law

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had the same experience with this company. The rep became agitated when I asked if he was a Google employee, since he stated "I am calling with Google to verify your Google business listing." He did not answer my question of whether he is a Google employee, and went on to speak over me about SEO marketing. I told him to remove me from his call list and never to call me again. He stated that I have to remove my business from Google if I wanted to have my number removed. I am preparing lawsuit, as my phone number is listed on dnc registry, the number they called is a cell phone, and for repeatedly calling me after my asking them to stop. Don't do business with liars and scam artists - there are many small businesses out there that are honest, do just as good a job or better, and would love to have your business.

Scammers strike out

I've been getting lots of these phone calls that have a pleasant female computer voice tell you that this is Google calling and it's extremely important for me to take the call as they need to finish upgrading my Google + account. OK, so this morning I finally decided to find out who these people really were. I mean, obviously, this was NOT Google - I have a small translation company with an old (1998 vintage) web site that is not likely to draw the attention of Google. I pressed "1" and was told that I have to be a small business owner or marketing director before they would talk to me, and if that was me - I should press "1" again. I did. A cheerful young woman picked up introducing herself as Amy and started going down the scripted sales pitch. The fact that I was answering her every question with a "No" (would I be interested in a guaranteed top listing, without needing any Adwords? - NO! Okay, would I be interested in attracting more clients to offer them my product or service? - NO!) did not even slow her down. She kept at me, admitting at one point that she was working for Local SEO Lighthouse, not Google, but when I started explaining to her how what she was talking about was impossible she just hung up. I guess they prefer to deal with people who don't know much about how Google operates and what "SEO" actually means. Stay away from these people - this is 100% a scam with nothing of value to offer. Just lies and empty promises. I have a recording of that conversation if anyone is interested.

Avoid at all cost! 6 month contract - others providers do NOT demand this

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I fell prey to the aggressive sales pitch, signed up for this service, which provided an embarrassing representation of my business. This site literally made no difference to my Google hits. They charged me $99 a month (!) My business closed 2 months later due to a fall out with the landlord. I CLOSED THE BUSINESS, called Lighthouse - a representative said, "no problem, we'll close the account, no further charges." Not the case. Next, Lighthouse requested an "official IRS form" to "prove" my business had closed. I contacted IRS, a live person on the phone, who confirmed no such form exists. I advised Lighthouse. I did provide an expiration of my business license from the city - but they wouldn't accept it. When push came to shove, they went back on their word and demanded I pay to the term of their contract, despite the business no longer existing (!) There are a multitude of other people offering these same services WITHOUT A 6 MONTH CONTRACT and for far less money. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this company!

Ineffective and Lotsa Lies

Believe the negative hype. If you believe their 5th iteration of what they promise to deliver, you might be happy to give them 1 star. The lesson I learned from this is to never take an unsolicited sales call. Big promises, and a complete failure to deliver. After the "90 Day Guarantee" period, they tried to convince me they had achieved what I was promised. All a bunch of *** that changes with each person I spoke to. They used every tactic to keep me on board with them to keep getting fleeced. The site they created was ugly, and brought me 1 Lead, in 3 Months. What a joke. After being almost $500 in with them ($199+$99+$99+$99), I was fed up and called my credit card to dispute ALL the charges. I have been credited by Cap1, including for interest charged. It was such a headache, and now I'm done with them. Steer clear of these guys, and if you didn't read reviews (like me) and are getting ripped off by them, keep good records, and call your credit card company. Next!

You do realize that it's entirely possible to lose a dispute, right? Capital One is the one who credited you, not the company.

It's only a temporary credit while CapOne investigates the claim. If this place provides them with enough proof to show that the charges are legitimate then all of that money will be taken right back from your account.

CapOne doesn't automatically side with you just because you weren't satisfied. Don't be surprised when you "get billed" again after you lose your dispute.

Unprofessional and misleading websites

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If I could give it 0 stars I would! This company is misleading and produces horrific work. The website was filled with grammatical errors and did not reflect my company at all. When I complained about it they gave me the run around. The girl, Laura, claimed to be a manager kept saying ti wasn't her fault it was messed up and refused to escalate my call. She was outright rude and unprofessional. I asked they remove the website since it was such a poor reflect of my company and I did not want anyone linking it my business and she refused and said I had to pay 450.00 for them to do it. Why should I pay for them hurting my businesses image? They do not know what they are doing. They can't even spell-check their own work. If you use them, be prepared to have your company look unprofessional and uneducated.
